Enable access to rapportd only when running iTunes

Post by l3xx » Wed Sep 19, 2018 1:42 am

Where can I find the rapportd service in Murus?

Is it possible to only enable access to it's port (49163) when iTunes is running?

Code: Select all

COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
rapportd 895 lex 3u IPv4 0x91f15062095b2d97 0t0 TCP *:49163 (LISTEN)
rapportd 895 lex 4u IPv6 0x91f1506203c19caf 0t0 TCP *:49163 (LISTEN)

When you don't find a service in Murus Library then you can create a custom one, it's really easy and it takes a few seconds. Just give it a name, a port and a protocol (choose ALL protocols if you are unsure).
Please note that port 49163 falls within the dynamic ports range (49152-65535). These ports are usually bound randomly. So there's a chance that next time your rapportd process will use a different port.
And no, it is not possible to automatically add/remove pf firewall rules based on which app is running. You must do it manually.
