Crash after selecting Murus Lite mode (Array index out of range)

Post by lemon » Tue Jun 16, 2015 8:01 pm

Hi,

Murus application crash just after selecting the Lite mode, I have the same issue with 1.2 and 1.3 beta3 version.
Let me know if there is a solution, I have already tried with a new /Library/Preferences/it.murus.muruslibrary.plist file.

Thank you,
-lemon

I have already tried with a new /Library/Preferences/it.murus.muruslibrary.plist file
that's really strange, this is the only file needed by Murus.
Have you been able to start Murus successfully at least one time on that system? Or it never worked?

Anyway you should try removing this file and let Murus rebuild it.
Or you can try starting Murus keeping the ALT button pressed, then click the first button to repair Murus preferences and library.
Please let me know

Please open Murus keeping ALT/OPTION button pressed. Murus will start in maintenance mode and let you correct this bug, I hope.
If the bug persists i think you have to run Onion/Cocktail on your Mac to clean cache and repair privileges.

Application still crash after repairing it with ALT menu.

Could localisation be turned off, I suspect it might be the source of the problem rather then file permission.

localization can be turned off deleting directory "fr.lproj" from application bundle.
You can try to delete it, just right click Murus icon and select "show package contents", navigate contents and remove the directory.
I'm trying to replicate the issue without luck.
Can you please tell me if you are using 3rd party or additional network interfaces?

[edit]
I successfully run Murus 1.3 beta 3 on 10.9.5, 10.10.3 and 10.11 with French localizations. Tried my own .plist, Murus default .plist and tried with fresh system (first install) without problems. I tried also on VMWare virtual machines with no issues.

Some more questions:
Are you using directory domains on your network? I mean you do login with a local user or a directory user?
Does your home directory stay in the default place (/Users) on main partition?
Did you make some modifications to your filesystem (like moved system directories to separated volumes or such)?
Can you please show me the output of this shell command?

Code: Select all

ifconfig
(this command displays all network interfaces in your system)

I'm sorry you are experiencing these issues, I'll do my best to fix them. Thank you for your collaboration :)

If the problem persists you can try to use this experimental .plist configuration file, using Murus 1.3 beta 3:

http://www.murusfirewall.com/test_plist.zip

Quit Murus, unzip the file and copy it to /Library/Preferences/it.murus.muruslibrary.plist (this is the main "Library" folder, not your user's Library) then run Murus, start Murus Lite and see if it works.
