Block Outgoing traffic beyond Local LAN

Post by MRSTANG » Thu Jan 07, 2016 5:38 pm

Greetings,
New to Murus and have a question.
Is it possible to restrict all outgoing traffic to the local Lan only?
In other words I don't want this system to be able to get on the internet at all (not just web surfing) but it still needs to be able to send/receive local Lan traffic as it is running file sharing, etc.
Thanks
LJS

Yes, it is possible.
You have to create a group for your LAN or use one provided by Murus, then assign it to the ALL SERVICES's Allowed Groups in Managed Outbound Services.
The ALL SERVICES icon led will turn yellow meaning that outbound connections are restricted.
In order for this to work you need Murus Basic or Murus Pro, as Murus Lite does not handle outbound connections.

It is surely doable and is pretty easy actually.
Creating a group for LAN will do the trick for you.

May I also ask?
I have a networked computer that is used as a remote print/scan server (which is shared by numerous users) Is there any way I can block the machines internet access while still allowing it to connect to our local network?
Thanks in forward :)
