Port forwarding/redirection -- how?

Post by kkerekes » Mon Jun 06, 2016 3:18 pm

I want to have incoming requests to a specific Well Known Port (502) to be redirected to a port that doesn't require root access, say 1502.

This is allegedly something that pf can do, but I cannot figure out how to navigate the Murus UI to anything that would do that.

Anybody solve this issue already?

The easiest way is using a custom rule.
Add a custom rule like this:
action: RDR
source ip: any
source port: leave empty
destination ip: your IP address
destination port: 502
forwarding: your IP and port 1502. For example: 192.168.2.2 port 1502

add rule, click play, and that's it.
The resulting pf rule will be something like this (assuming your IP address is 192.168.2.2):

Code: Select all

rdr inet proto {tcp, udp} from any to 192.168.2.2 port 500 -> 192.168.2.2 port 1502

here an example using ports 500 and 1000:
