VALLUM 3.0 PUBLIC BETA 4 RELEASED

Post by hany » Wed Mar 28, 2018 3:10 pm

Vallum 3.0 public beta 4 is now available for download. This build fixes a bug that prevented Vallum from correctly managing processes using special characters in their name or path. Additionally, to increase our users security we are now hosting our binaries at GitHub and we provide SHA256 hashes and links to virustotal.com.
Enjoy!

Brilliant news & everyone should use these when they download Murus/Vallum in future.

Always remember how to verify hash!

Open Terminal from /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

Use this command, but you need to replace %FILE% with your own file path:

Code: Select all

openssl dgst -sha256 %FILE%
Tip: you can drag-and-drop files into the terminal window and it will automatically put in the file path for you!

For example, this is my command with my own file path:

Code: Select all

openssl dgst -sha256 /Users/Admin/Downloads/vallum-3.0-publicbeta4.zip
The returned output will look like:

Code: Select all

SHA256(/Users/Admin/Downloads/vallum-3.0-publicbeta4.zip)= 76261a372ef8f8b87e826f68731fc4382e04c1dd8e872780f819b0e780fee793
Tip: to easily see if checksum matches you can use the Find feature in terminal window (available from the menus Edit > Find, or keyboard shortcut command+f

If the checksum looks wrong compared to Murus website and VirusTotal then the file you downloaded is damaged or unsafe. Try download again. Uploading it to VirusTotal.com will do the checksum for you, plus virus scans! Good luck!
